Dot Detectives provides over 50 daily lessons to use with your students. These lessons meet the Common Core Standards for Math. Each of the documents I have included for today, provides a lesson plan for teachers to introduce and follow-up on these mental math skills. Additional resources including supporting website resources and activities links are at the end of each of these documents.
Common Core Standards for Math
1. Make sense of problems and persevere to solve them.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4. Model with mathematics.
5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
6. Attend to precision.
7. Look for and make use of structure.
8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
Next week I will add the next set of lessons using the Rekenrek (Math Rack) to help children build their visual and mental math skills. Feel free to request more information or send questions. I would be happy to respond. For anyone who is unable to open Smart Board documents, I will be creating these in power point as soon as I have completed the Smart Board Lessons.
Pat,
ReplyDeleteThese are great and I can open the smartboard software, however, can you tell me how I can get to your internet game resources? The page with the game pictures looks great, but when I click on the pictures they don't go anywhere for me. I'm new to notebook software, so it may just be user error. Thanks for all you're shares!
Thanks for these! I love my Smartboard, it makes learning so much more fun for my kiddos! I am following you now :)

Hello Heidi,
ReplyDeleteI checked the Dot Detectives for 3 by opening the Smart Board document and clicking on the little blue circle next to the icon picture of the activity. It appears to work for me, however, the link does not work the same as a blog link. Smart board links are connected to the little blue dot on the left corner of each picture. Click directly on that dot and it should open a separate window to the activity.
If that does not work for you ... there is a second option: click on the left side paperclip icon. That will open the attachments that I have added including downloads and links. Once open, you can click on each of the attachments to access the download or website link.
I hope this works for you and so glad you have access to smart board software as I will be uploading tons in the near feature. My way of giving back to the blogging community through sharing my new learning and creations.
Thank you for checking in with me. However I can help ~~
Pat
Hi Pat!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the detailed info! It worked! I've had no training on the smartboard software and am working my way through! This was an invaluable lesson!
So appreciate your hard work and time!
Look forward to sharing with you in the future!
Heidi
